How to introduce reading into your child's list of interest?

One of the common traits of successful people is that they love reading. That is why it is important to train your child to read at an early age. Training them to read does not mean giving them the daily newspaper, or handing them that big thick encyclopedia. Kids are not prepared for that. Although there are few children who will be fascinated about these materials, most won't. So start giving your kids something that will be pleasing for them.

Try to know what they are interested in and check if you can get some reading materials about it. It is easier nowadays because you can readily search the internet about it. You can try to look for materials about his favorite cartoon character or favorite toy. You can also download something about his favorite action hero and a little history about it. You don't even have to buy a book to get them started. Just print the material, bind it and tell them about what you found out. That will surely entice them to read. It is also a good way for you to peak into their world and get to know why they are so amazed with some of the characters. They will even let you know who they want to read about in the future.

You can teach them to compile everything that you have downloaded and store it somewhere he can easily find. It will be enable him to get the material he wants to read about any time. You can get him one of the bookcase for kids are available in the market today. It will be a beautiful sight in his room and will keep all his reading materials organized.

If you think your child is ready for other reading materials, it would be a good idea to get him a book. A story book is a good start. Judging by his compilation, you will know what kind of stories he is into but keep in mind to read the story before you give it to him. There are books that are packaged for children but have inappropriate substances. It is still important to be sure about what you are giving your child

You can also start giving him more informative materials when he is already comfortable with reading. You can let him read about new discoveries made. Or give him a trivia from time to time. You can also tell him to check the dictionary for you. You can pretend that you forgot the meaning of a word and ask him to look it up. If he doesn't know how to use it yet, you can teach him. If he is interested, you can look up for the definition of other terms. If he is not, then don't force him to do so. He might not like the impression you are giving him. So instead of pushing him to do something he doesn't want, try another approach.

There are several ways to introduce reading into your child's life. You can even bring him to a children's library and let him pick a book from the childrens bookcases and kids bookshelves. That will give you an idea of what he wants to read or what types of books attracts him more.
