You must have noticed the very long hours the kids spend these days before the computer playing the many games now available online. These online games they play with kids of other countries sometimes carry on far into the night especially when the online kid opponent is in another time zone, a fact some people may not notice at all. Kids become night owls this way with the parents sometimes staying ignorant of what is happening,
Some kids even neglect their reading of their books connected with their studies in school. Some parents have resorted even to the stoppage of their connection now with the Internet from their providers, so the kids cannot anymore play the games online especially during school days.
Moms are going back to the books as their alternative for the kids to keep busy. This is a good move so the children lessen the length of their time with the computer and can have more hours doing their school assignments and studying their lessons for the next day of school.
This is also good for the children’s health, as you may have heard a complaint or two from the kids lately that they have a headache, they feel like vomiting, and so forth and so on. The complaints probably arise due to the effects of extended staring into the computer monitor, especially if you have not put any glare shield on your computer monitor. The child’s feeling of wanting to vomit could be the effect on the eyes too and it will be prudent to refer the complaint to a physician before the problem worsens.
Now that the children are getting used to reading the books again as an alternative activity, their grades in school could improve. At least they are beginning to have some diligence for studying again at their study tables. You might consider totally having your Internet connection fully stopped and have that restored only during the long school vacations of the kids in the Christmas season and in the summer months.
Buy them more books and even an additional bookcase toy storage if necessary, to keep the momentum of their studies with the books.
Do not worry if it seems that you are buying them too many books now beyond what they need for school, you can always donate the books later to the children of your less-privileged neighbors. That will be a very good deed for your community, as the books will also give a chance for the other kids around you in the neighborhood to pursue their school assignments better.
You will certainly get the gratitude and the appreciation of the parents around who may not have all the means to buy the books their children need. You can even consider giving out to your poorer neighbors the bookcase for kids you may be replacing with new ones, as your incentive to your kids for maintaining their study habits, now that you some control over their computer games.
